Scholarship Spotlight: Crystal Valdez

The Correctional Peace Officers Foundation is proud to recognize Crystal Valdez as a 2026 CPOF scholarship recipient.

Crystal, the daughter of Blanca Elizabeth Valdez of Kern Valley State Prison in California, is continuing her education at Bakersfield College as she works toward achieving her academic and career goals.

This year marks Crystal’s second CPOF scholarship, recognizing her continued dedication to higher education and her commitment to building a successful future.

The CPOF Scholarship Program exists to do more than help students begin college—it exists to encourage them throughout their educational journey. Returning scholarship recipients like Crystal demonstrate the perseverance and determination it takes to continue pursuing a college education year after year.

Every scholarship awarded represents an investment not only in an individual student, but in the future of correctional families across the country. Through the generosity of CPOF members and supporters, students like Crystal are able to continue working toward their goals while easing some of the financial burden that often accompanies higher education.

We are proud to continue supporting Crystal as she advances her education and look forward to seeing all she accomplishes in the years ahead.
