The Correctional Peace Officers Foundation is proud to recognize Alexis Alvarado, daughter of Officer Daniel Esauro Alvarado of the California Substance Abuse Treatment Facility in Corcoran, California, as a recipient of a 2026 CPOF Scholarship.
Alexis is currently a senior at Kingsburg High School and has ambitious plans for her future. After graduation, she will attend Reedley College to complete her associate’s degree before transferring into the Dental Hygiene Program at Fresno City College. Her goal is to become a dental hygienist, combining her passion for healthcare with her desire to help others feel healthy, confident, and proud of their smiles.
During her high school years, Alexis has remained actively involved in her school community. She was a member of the cheer team for all four years of high school, where she learned valuable lessons in teamwork, communication, and perseverance. She also participated in Leadership during her junior and senior years and served as a Link Crew mentor during her senior year, helping incoming freshmen navigate the transition into high school.
Academically, Alexis has worked diligently to maintain a GPA of 3.0 or higher while completing her A-G requirements, an accomplishment she is especially proud of. She believes that success is built through consistent effort and that even small achievements deserve recognition because they help create a foundation for future goals.
In her scholarship essay, Alexis reflected on the challenges she has faced throughout high school and the lessons she has learned along the way. Through athletics, academics, and personal experiences, she developed resilience, confidence, and a determination to face obstacles rather than avoid them. She shared that learning to work through difficult situations, including changes in friendships and other personal challenges, helped her grow into a stronger and more focused individual.
Outside of school, Alexis enjoys spending time with friends, participating in social activities, and building meaningful relationships. She values the support of family and friends and understands the important role those connections play in personal growth and success.
Receiving a CPOF Scholarship will help Alexis continue her educational journey while easing some of the financial burden associated with college expenses. By pursuing community college and carefully planning her education, she hopes to achieve her career goals while minimizing student debt and creating a strong foundation for her future.
“With determination, support from my family, and opportunities like this scholarship, I am confident that I will be able to reach my goals and give back to others in the future,” Alexis wrote in her essay.
The Correctional Peace Officers Foundation is honored to support Alexis as she pursues her dream of a career in dental hygiene. Her commitment to education, personal growth, and serving others reflects the values that make her an outstanding representative of the correctional family community.
Congratulations, Alexis! We look forward to following your journey and celebrating your future success.
