CPOF Membership Update for Pennsylvania Members

Standing Together Through Change

The Correctional Peace Officers Foundation (CPOF) is reaching out with an important update regarding payroll deductions for Pennsylvania members, and, most importantly, to thank you for your continued support of correctional professionals and their families.

What Changed

CPOF was recently notified that the payroll deduction slot previously used for members of the Pennsylvania State Corrections Officers Association (PSCOA) was discontinued as of December 1 and reassigned to another organization. This change was not initiated by CPOF.

While unexpected, please know that your membership is deeply valued, and we are committed to making this transition as smooth as possible.

Membership Benefits Extended

To ensure uninterrupted access to CPOF programs and services, we have extended your current membership benefits through the end of February. This extension allows time for you to select a new payment option without losing access to benefits.

Who CPOF Serves

CPOF exists to help, assist, and honor correctional professionals and their families, in Pennsylvania and across the nation, when they need it most. Because of the commitment of our supporting members, CPOF provides:

  • Catastrophic Assistance for correctional professionals and families facing serious illness, injury, or unexpected hardship

  • Line-of-Duty Death Support, including direct financial assistance, memorial and Honor Guard coordination, and long-term family support

These programs are available to all correctional professionals, regardless of union affiliation. CPOF is an independent nonprofit organization. Union membership is not required to be a CPOF member. We respect and support the important work of unions while remaining focused on our distinct mission of care, assistance, and remembrance for correctional staff nationwide.

Member-only benefit: The CPOF Scholarship Program is the one benefit exclusive to members. The current scholarship application period is now open for qualifying members and their families.

CPOF Impact in Pennsylvania

Your support has made a measurable difference for correctional families across the Commonwealth.

In 2025 alone:

  • 55 Pennsylvania correctional families assisted through the Catastrophic Assistance Program

  • $29,350 distributed in direct aid

Lifetime impact in Pennsylvania:

  • $1,119,272 in catastrophic assistance

  • 11 scholarships totaling $7,000 awarded in 2025, bringing total scholarship support to more than $31,000

  • Nearly $400,000 in Line-of-Duty Death assistance provided to fallen correctional staff and their families, including support following the loss of Sgt. Mark Baserman, SCI–Somerset (End of Watch: February 26, 2018)

These numbers represent more than dollars—they reflect families supported, sacrifices honored, and a community standing together.

Just as important, our work depends on members being our eyes and ears in the field—alerting us when a coworker, family, or facility is facing a crisis and needs immediate support.
