Darrin Myers Promoted

FORSYTH, Ga. – Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) Commissioner Gregory C. Dozier announced the promotion of Darrin Myers to Superintendent at Helms Facility, effective April 1, 2018. As the Superintendent, Myers will be responsible for overseeing 60 staff members and 32 special mission security male and female offenders.

“Myers has continuously demonstrated his leadership skills and work ethic,” said Commissioner Gregory C. Dozier. “We are confident that his knowledge and experience will be a tremendous asset to the Helms Facility.”

Myers began his career with the GDC in 2006 as a Correctional Officer at Rutledge State Prison. During his tenure, he rose through the ranks of Sergeant and Lieutenant. Myers was promoted to Probation Officer at Columbus Probation Office in 2013. In 2014, he returned to Rutledge State Prison as a Correctional Officer and in 2015, he was promoted to Lieutenant. In 2016, he was promoted to Assistant Superintendent at Columbus Transitional Center, where he currently serves.

Myers holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Phoenix. He has completed the following departmental training: Basic Correctional Officer Training (BCOT), Basic Parole/Probation Officer Training, Post Instructor Training, Basic Management Training (BMT), and Assistant Superintendent Training.
