Nebraska Strongman Competition Raises $700 for CPOF

On November 9, the corrections community in Nebraska showed just how strong it truly is—both in spirit and in strength. The annual Nebraska Strongman competition, hosted this year at Towers’ Frontier Harley-Davidson in Lincoln, selected the Correctional Peace Officers Foundation as the recipient of its 2025 event proceeds. We are honored and grateful to share that the competition raised $700 in support of our mission.

The check presentation was made by Dillon Gartner, Recreation Specialist at the Reception and Treatment Center in Lincoln, and the driving force behind this year’s event. Dillon, a three-time “Nebraska’s Strongest Man” competitor himself, organized a day filled with exceptional athleticism, camaraderie, and community support.

CPOF volunteers Jill Edelman and National Honor Guard member David Edelman proudly attended to represent the Foundation throughout the event. Their presence helped share CPOF’s mission with attendees, competitors, and spectators—many of whom were corrections staff, families, or supporters of the first responder community.

The competition featured dozens of athletes from across the state, showcasing impressive feats of strength, endurance, and determination. The atmosphere was electric: great food, raffle prizes, cheering crowds, and meaningful connections between competitors and the corrections community.

In a social media post following the event, organizers shared:

“The energy was unmatched all day. All proceeds went to the Correctional Peace Officers Foundation, and we couldn’t be more proud of this community for showing up strong. Until next year… stay strong, Nebraska!”

Their support exemplifies exactly what Taking Care of Our Own looks like—people coming together to uplift correctional staff and their families, even outside the walls of a facility.

CPOF extends our heartfelt thanks to:

  • Dillon Gartner for choosing CPOF as this year’s beneficiary

  • The Nebraska Strongman community for their generosity

  • Jill and David Edelman for representing the Foundation

  • The competitors, attendees, and sponsors who made the day a success

Events like this not only raise funds—they raise awareness, build relationships, and highlight the incredible strength found within our corrections community.

Thank you, Nebraska, for your support. We look forward to standing strong together for years to come.
