Honor Guard service is more than ceremony—it is a commitment to preserving tradition, honoring sacrifice, and representing the correctional profession with the highest level of dignity and professionalism.
The Correctional Peace Officers Foundation invites Honor Guard teams from across the country to participate in a special Honor Guard Training on Saturday, September 12, 2026, in Attica, New York, immediately preceding the 55th Anniversary Commemoration of the Attica Uprising.
This unique training opportunity is designed for Honor Guard teams, providing members the chance to refine their ceremonial skills while training alongside fellow correctional professionals who share a passion for excellence and service.

Whether your team is newly established or has years of experience, this training offers valuable instruction and practical exercises designed to strengthen confidence, improve precision, and enhance overall performance.
Participants will receive hands-on instruction in:
- Ceremonial drill and movement
- Color Guard procedures
- Rifle manual and commands
- Formation and team coordination
- Funeral and memorial protocols
- Best practices for representing your agency with professionalism and honor
Throughout the day, instructors from the CPOF National Honor Guard will share techniques and lessons learned through years of service at line-of-duty funerals, memorial ceremonies, PROJECT, and correctional events across the nation.

The day following the training, participants will have the opportunity to attend the 55th Anniversary Commemoration of the Attica Uprising, joining correctional professionals from across the country in remembering the correctional employees who lost their lives and honoring the lasting impact of this pivotal moment in correctional history.
Training in Attica provides more than technical instruction—it offers an opportunity to reflect on our profession’s history while reinforcing the responsibility we all share to preserve its traditions.

One of the greatest strengths of this program is the opportunity to learn from and network with Honor Guard teams representing agencies from across the United States.
Participants will exchange ideas, build lasting professional relationships, and return home with new techniques and renewed confidence to strengthen their own agency’s Honor Guard program.
Registration Information
Participation is open to current CPOF member Honor Guard teams.
To ensure a quality training experience, registration is limited to 15 teams or 80 officers, and space will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis.
