About The Honor Guard
Who Are the Honor Guard?
Honor Guard members must be currently employed or retired from the field of corrections, a supporting member of CPOF, be a person of good character, good physical condition and good reputation, and have strong work ethics and a good record at their correctional facility.
What Do They Do?
Since its formation, the Honor Guard has been called upon to participate, solely or in addition to other honor guards, in memorial ceremonies all across the country held to honor corrections professionals who lost their lives in the line of duty, accidents, and natural causes.
Who Commands the Honor Guard?
Raymond Gonsalves Jr., Captain, Retired, has been the National Honor Guard Commander since 2019, after having been a member of the Honor Guard for 20+ years. Captain Gonsalves retired from the Massachusetts Department of Corrections in 2016 after 25 years as a Correctional Captain.
