Probation and Parole Officer Anthony Lucas also served as the part time Police Chief of French Camp, Mississippi. Officer Lucas had joined other Choctaw County Officers in a brief pursuit of a vehicle which had fled during a traffic stop. The fleeing car stopped at a house and four juveniles inside the car jumped out, with three running inside the house and one running down the road. As Officer Lucas walked toward the house a 16 year old male came out and shot him with a shotgun.Officer Lucas had served with the Mississippi Department of Corrections for 7 years and with the French Camp Police Department for 2 years. He is survived by his wife Penny, his son Anthony Kyle, parents Brenda and Wendell and sister Aimee.
