Officer Clutts was killed when he was repeatedly stabbed by an inmate with a homemade prison shank. The inmate was being escorted back to his cell after having a shower when another inmate slipped him a shank. The inmate then ran down the tier and attacked Officer Clutts against who he had a vendetta. By the time the Officers got the suspect off Officer Clutts and pulled Officer Clutts to safety, he had been stabbed 40 times.
