Lance Corporal Cherry is the son of Correctional Officer Genevieve King of Centinela State Prison – CA. Lance Corporal Marcus Cherry was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 4th Marines, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Pendleton, California. Lance Corporal Cherry was killed April 6, 2004 by hostile fire in an outburst of violence between insurgents and U.S. troops in the Al Anbar province, Iraq. Corporal Cherry is survived by his mother.
