Correctional Officer Scott Bryant was struck and killed by a vehicle while officially representing the Iowa Department of Corrections during a Special Olympics Law enforcement Torch Run. An elderly driver passed the security patrol car that was following the runners in the Torch Run and re-entered the roadway. Officer Bryant seeing the approaching car, pushed another Officer out of the way a split second before being struck, saving the other Officer’s life.Officer Bryant had served with the Iowa Department of Corrections for 16 years. He is survived by his wife Micki and daughters Brooke and Bailie.
