Recognition of Award of Assistance Presented at Metro Reentry Facility

On May 7, at the Metro Reentry Facility in Atlanta, Field Representative Vanessa Hester-O’Donnell of the Correctional Peace Officers Foundation proudly presented an award of assistance to Officer Jubril Arogundade. The award was provided to help alleviate expenses associated with Officer Arogundade’s recent lengthy illness and to remind him that the correctional family stands beside him during difficult times.

Moments like these serve as a powerful reminder of the mission of the Correctional Peace Officers Foundation — to support correctional professionals and their families when they need it most. Whether responding to catastrophic events, medical hardships, line-of-duty tragedies, or unexpected crises, CPOF remains committed to ensuring that no member of the correctional profession faces hardship alone.

For correctional staff, the challenges faced both inside and outside the walls can be overwhelming. Extended illnesses and medical hardships often create emotional, physical, and financial burdens that impact entire families. Through the generosity of supporters and members across the nation, CPOF is able to step in during these moments with meaningful assistance, encouragement, and compassion.

Field Representative Vanessa Hester-O’Donnell shared the importance of continuing to be present for correctional professionals throughout Georgia and beyond, emphasizing that support during difficult seasons can make a lasting difference for staff and their loved ones.

Also present during the award presentation were Warden Gregory Sampson and HR Director Angela Stephens, whose participation reflected the strong leadership and support shown by the facility toward Officer Arogundade. Their presence highlighted the unity that exists within the correctional profession and the shared commitment to taking care of staff members both personally and professionally.

At its core, the Correctional Peace Officers Foundation exists to remind correctional professionals that they are never alone. Every award of assistance represents more than financial support — it represents a nationwide family standing together in solidarity, compassion, and service.

Because when the call comes, we answer.
