CPOF Provides Assistance to the Family of Officer Kimberly King

The Correctional Peace Officers Foundation recently provided a gift of assistance to Eddie King and his family following the tragic and heartbreaking loss of Officer Kimberly King.

On April 25, 2026, Officer Kimberly King was struck by a truck while walking along a highway with her grandchild. In an act of incredible courage and selflessness, Kimberly pushed the child out of the path of the oncoming vehicle, ensuring the child’s safety. Tragically, Officer King succumbed to the injuries she sustained during the incident.

Officer King is survived by her husband, Eddie King, who also serves with the Georgia Department of Corrections, along with their family and loved ones who continue to mourn this unimaginable loss.

The Correctional Peace Officers Foundation was honored to provide support to the King family during this difficult time as part of the Foundation’s Catastrophic Assistance Program. Through this program, CPOF assists correctional professionals and their families who are facing unexpected tragedy, hardship, illness, injury, or loss.

Officer Kimberly King’s actions reflect extraordinary bravery, love, and sacrifice. Her heroism in protecting her grandchild will never be forgotten.

The Correctional Peace Officers Foundation extends its deepest condolences, prayers, and unwavering support to Eddie King, their family, friends, and the entire Georgia corrections community.
