Correctional Officer Thomas Rowe – EOW: April 10, 2020

On April 10th Correctional Officer Thomas Rowe, while on duty at Northern Nevada Correctional Center, was at the gun range participating in a Bi-Annual qualification. Officer Rowe had stepped up, taken his qualifying shot, and suddenly clutched his chest and collapsed. Officer Rowe was transported to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. After serving the Nevada Department of Correction for 12 years, Officer Rowe died of a ruptured aneurysm.

The Rowe family was honored at PROJECT 2000 in 2021 in Columbus, Ohio.  In 2022 and 2023, his stepdaughter, Savannah, applied for and received a scholarship from CPOF.  Officer Rowe’s widow and Savannah’s mother, Crystal, wrote in to update their CPOF family on how Savannah is doing.  Congratulations Savannah on your achievements. You and your family remain in our thoughts and prayers.

If you have applied for a scholarship, please check back in June when awards are announced!
