
The correctional and law enforcement communities are mourning the loss of Sergeant Francisco Paul Flattes, II, a dedicated public servant who gave his life in the line of duty. Known for his frank honesty, unwavering integrity, and steadfast commitment to his profession, Flattes, age 56 of Hayesville, NC, tragically passed away on Monday, June 30, 2025, while serving as a Detention Officer with the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office.
As his life is honored, the Correctional Peace Officers Foundation (CPOF) Honor Guard will be in attendance to pay tribute to his service and sacrifice. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, at Tri-County Community College, with visitation beginning at 11:00 a.m.
