In Memory of Stanford “Stan” Lewis Deese, Sr.

October 27, 1961 – April 10, 2025

It is with heartfelt sympathy that we recognize the passing of Stanford “Stan” Deese, Sr., a respected Vocational Teacher and master Electrician with the Florida Department of Corrections, who passed away on April 10, 2025, after a brave battle with cancer. He was 63 years old.

Stan’s life was marked by service, craftsmanship, and love. He served six years in the Florida National Guard, and over the decades, built a remarkable career as an electrician, holding roles with M & C Electric, Baraco Electric, Quality Electric, Carlos M. Hope Electric, Adkins Electric, and Tri City Electric. He also channeled his passion for technology into entrepreneurial ventures, including Wizard Electrical Technologies and JRS Self-Serve Ice. At the time of his passing, Stan was proudly serving as an electrician and vocational instructor, mentoring others through skill and example.

Stan was a man devoted to his family. He is survived by his beloved wife of 42 years, Lisa Ann Deese, their three sons, and a growing legacy of grandchildren and god-grandchildren. In recognition of his years of service and the family’s loss, bereavement assistance was provided through the Correctional Peace Officers Foundation’s Catastrophic Assistance Program.

The CPOF assistance packet was presented to Stan’s son, Vocational Teacher Shawn Deese, by Assistant Warden of Programs Krissy Stanford and Education Supervisor Heather Rainey—a gesture that reflects the deep respect Stan earned and the support of his corrections family during this time of mourning.

Referred by Heather Rainey and CPOF Representative Jim Freeman, the Deese family has been uplifted through the strength of their community and the continued prayers and support of colleagues and friends.

We honor Stan’s legacy of service, craftsmanship, and love—and extend our deepest condolences to Lisa, Shawn, and the entire Deese family.
