Minimum Security – Rhode Island

Correctional Officer Pedro Contreras had a complete hip replacement in October and has been out of work since. The officer from Minimum Security in Rhode Island received a catastrophic assistance packet to help offset the financial hardship created by his medical bills and using all of his time. Following receiving his assistance, he wrote in the following:

“Dear Jazmyn,
I hope you’re doing well. My name is Pedro Contreras, and I’m a Correctional Officer at Min Sec. I recently underwent a complete hip replacement on my left side. While my medical insurance covered a significant portion of the bill, I was left with a remaining balance of $950. I want to sincerely thank you for your generous help with that portion. After being out of work for nearly three months—some of which was unpaid—your support has been incredibly helpful to both myself and my family. I truly appreciate your kindness. Wishing you a wonderful day!
Sincerely,
Pedro Contreras”
