Correctional Officer Jackie Smallwood was doing rounds in the housing unit pod when an inmate became irate and assaultive towards him.  Officer Smallwood was punched in the face several times, received a broken hand and had to have seven stitches in his hand. Officer Smallwood will require surgery.

Correctional Officer Kevin Belcher responded to Officer Smallwood’s need for assistance. While gaining control of the inmate he injured his knee. He was sent to the hospital for treatment.
