CDCR Cadet Pedroza

Correctional Cadet Jose Luis Pedroza signed up to be a CPOF member in his first week of academy for the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation in September, 2024.

He signed up for CPOF to be there for his brothers and sisters in uniform, never expecting to need assistance himself.

A month and a half later he was injured while participating in the physical training class. After injuring his foot, he continued to participate despite the pain, swelling and discomfort until he simply could not anymore.

After finally visiting a doctor, they discovered he fractured his foot and would be in a boot and on crutches.  This was not how Cadet Pedroza envisioned the start of his correctional career.

CPOF’s catastrophic assistance program was there to help him through his medical event. He is recuperating and will be returning to the academy as soon as he is healed. Cadet Pedroza, we wish you a speedy recovery and a long and prosperous career in corrections.
