Shortly after his return to work, on April 1st, Sergeant Dos Santos had a stroke at work. He remained off of work until April 16th. On April 28th Sergeant Dos Santos had a mini stroke and was diagnosed with transient ischemic attacks. He remained out of work until May 9th.

On August 23, 2024, Warehouse Senior Clerk Sarah Stone of Marion Correctional Institution had a Bronchial Scope Surgery – Lung Wash to clear her lungs to enable better breathing. Ms. Stone has been in and out of the hospital over the years due to her breathing issues associated with her lungs as well as her 2018 diagnosis of emphysema and blood cancer.
While it was an outpatient hospital procedure, it did leave her out of work for a couple days. The medical bill for the surgery was far larger than anticipated.
October 2, 2024, Ms. Stone had to have an outpatient surgery to remove a Basil Cell Carcinoma that was located on her chest.
CPOF’s Catastrophic Assistance Program was able to help Ms. Stone with assistance on her medical bills. We continue to wish you the very best recovery. Thank you Colonel Crawford and Assistane Warden Tosi for presenting this package to Ms. Stone.
CPOF was also able to be there for staff members of Madison Correctional Institution affected by Hurricane Helene:
