Pelican Bay – California

In 2015, Correctional Officer Joshua Hayes daughter, Chloe, was born with a heart murmur that has since caused her many complications. Due to this condition the family travels to Portland once a month to her specialist and to her doctor at least  once a week for check-ups. When Chloe turns 1 and meets the 22 pound mark, she will undergo
surgery.

Chloe underwent her first open heart surgery in August of 2016. Following that surgery, her disease continued to get worse.  She continued treatement before traveling to Portland in 2020 for specialized care.

In September of 2024, Officer Hayes was assaulted by an inmate causing injury to his knee, neck, back and a traumatic brain injury. During this time, Chloe had another open heart surgery in Portland.

CPOF has been there for the Hayes family during their hardships and continues to keep the family in everyone’s thoughts and prayers.
