One of the greatest parts of The Correctional Peace Officers Foundation is the motto, “Taking Care of Our Own.” It’s something the foundation firmly believes in and practices in everything we do. What’s always inspiring is seeing our members, the Honor Guard Teams that support us and those in their field showing us what it means to them to “Take Care of Our Own.”
The Georgia Honor Guard has attended several PROJECT 2000 events with CPOF and witnessed first hand the great things the organization does for our Corrections Family.
CPOF offers Lifetime Sponsorships for a donation of $5,000. Most often, they are purchased for a facility or Honor Guard Team. Georgia was determined to raise enough money to earn a Lifetime Sponsorship for their Honor Guard Team. “We made a commitment that before the next PROJECT 2000, we would have at least enough for the Lifetime Sponsorship for the Honor Guard. We then would continue from there with our Headquarters and so on. Our first fundraiser was a Breast Cancer Awareness/GDC Strong bracelet in October with all proceeds going toward CPOF. We raised a total of $2,100 dollars in proceeds from it. We raised a total of $900 in proceeds from the BBQ Plate Fundraiser at our Veterans Day Ceremony on November 9th at our Headquarters. We have several more fundraising events planned to get us past our first goal.” – Gary Bell, Operations Manager, Facility Operations
