Community Parole Officer Christine Guerin-Sandoval

Community Parole Officer Christine Guerin-Sandoval and two other parole officers were attempting to locate and arrest a parolee when he was located at a convience store, parked in his car. As the officers approached him, he intentionally put his car into reverse and drove into the officers. Medical aid was rendered but Officer Guerin-Sandoval succumbed to her injuries and died a short time later, one of the other officers was treated with serious injuries. The suspect was arrested and taken into custody.

Community Parole Officer Guerin-Sandoval was only 50 years old when her life was taken from her. She had two beautiful children with her husband of 33 years, Rodney. She loved her family, her cat and her friends. She spent a lot of her time with her closest friends, the “CABS.”  She was receeded in death by her father, her in-laws, her special cat and her goldfish. She left behind a lot of broken hearts.

Christine was with the Colorado Department of Corrections for 5 years, prior she was with the Pueblo County Sheriff’s Department. Her funeral was attended by so many people whose lives she had changed both during her career and prior to it.

The Correctional Peace Officer’s National Honor Guard team performed exceptionally well at the services for Officer Guerin-Sandoval. They were joined by Honor Guard Teams from across the nation, many they had just seen at the services for Officer Clark in Georgia, Deputy Durm in Indiana and at PROJECT 2000 XXXIV in St. Louis. Part of the attending National Team is shown here with representatives from Oklahoma’s Honor Guard Team and Michigan’s Honor Guard Team.

The posting of colors was handled exclusively by CPOF members. They were honor guard members from The North Carolina Team, Michigan, National Honor Guard Team and Nebraska.

In addition to the National Honor Guard Team, CPOF Field Representative for Colorado, Guy Edmonds and CPOF’s National Director and Treasurer Perry Speth were in attendence for the services and to provide any support the family may need or want. LODD Benefits Coordinator Kim Blakley from the home office were also there to provide support.

Please join us in keeping the family of Community Parole Officers Christina Guerin-Sandoval in your thoughts and your prayers.
