Deputy Jerry Ford was killed in an automobile accident when he and Deputy Steven Hackle were returning from a work detail to which they had been assigned with the Georgia Department of Corrections. The department vehicle hydroplaned, went off the road and struck several trees. Deputy Ford was employed with Johnson County State Prison for 13 years and a Deputy with Emanuel County Sheriff’s Department for 12 years. He is survived by his wife Gwen, daughters Precious, Misha, Charlotte and Adrienne, sons Jerry Jr. and Charles, mother Shirley, sisters Gladys and Wylodene and brother Artis.
