The Correctional Peace Officers Foundation recently provided catastrophic assistance to Secretary V Allison Inman of Bill Johnson Correctional Center in Oklahoma as she continues treatment for breast cancer.
Allison has endured chemotherapy and a double mastectomy, and her treatment journey is not yet over. She continues to travel to Oklahoma City for ongoing care, including follow-up appointments, radiation treatments and physical rehabilitation.
While facing these medical challenges, Allison is also a devoted wife and mother of three children, ranging in age from 12 to 16. The demands of treatment, recovery and frequent travel have placed an additional burden on Allison and her family during an already difficult time.
Allison was referred to CPOF by Warden Becky Guffy. Deputy Warden Scotty Cox presented Allison with a catastrophic assistance check on behalf of the Foundation and its members.
Following the presentation, Warden Guffy shared how much the support meant to Allison and those who care about her:
“A huge and heartfelt thank you for the generous donation to help Allison. I wish you could have seen her face when we told her. She cried, I cried—pretty much we all cried.
“During a time when she already has so much on her shoulders, knowing that people care enough to step up and help is incredibly special. Thank you for taking care of one of our own. This is what family looks like.”
CPOF is honored to stand beside Allison and her family throughout this journey. We extend our heartfelt support and best wishes as she continues treatment, rehabilitation and recovery.
It is because of the generosity of our members and supporters that CPOF can respond when members of the correctional community face life-changing circumstances. Together, we take care of our own.
