Honor Behind the Guard – Tania Arguello

Good afternoon, everyone, my name is Tania Arguello. I am a Lieutenant with the Nevada Department of Corrections in Carson City Nevada. I have been with the department since October 1996. I began my career as a Forensic Specialist, working in the medical and mental health department at the Regional Medical Facility. During my tenure I worked in 4 major institutions throughout the state of Nevada.

In 2007 I was invited to attend Project by Kim Blakely in St. Louis Missouri. I was sold without a doubt that I wanted to be a part of this organization. Shortly thereafter I received a telephone call from Char Corby asking me if I would be interested in being on the Correctional Peace Officer Foundation Honor Guard. This was truly a moment of surprise and honor. I accepted her offer and I have been a part of the CPOF Honor Guard since 2008.

I can honestly say I take pride in doing what we do for the families, so they can walk away feeling proud and honored to celebrate the life of their loved ones. We train in precision with discipline and respect as we play a vital role, ensuring their loved ones are recognized with dignity. We provide duties that symbolize trust, sacrifice, service, and love. Often times it involves intense emotions and this is when we pray for strength and peace as a united front. We show their value and how “We” take care of our own. The camaraderie between all the Honor Guards nationwide proves that those of us who attend continue to sacrifice and protect.

I have been to many memorials and funerals in my days and there is nothing like attending Project. It is inspiring and powerful, and it shows how men and women have pride and honor in serving our nation.

Blessed and Humble

Tania Arguello
