Standing Beside Officer Mickey Atkins

The Correctional Peace Officers Foundation is honored to provide catastrophic assistance to Senior Correctional Officer Mickey Atkins of the Wallace Unit in Texas as he courageously battles adenocarcinoma of the esophagus.

Officer Atkins is currently undergoing chemotherapy while facing the physical, emotional, and financial challenges that accompany cancer treatment. As medical expenses continue to grow, the out-of-pocket costs have created an additional burden during an already difficult time.

After receiving a referral from Marissa Potter in Human Resources, CPOF reviewed Officer Atkins’ medical documentation and approved assistance to help ease some of those financial pressures. A check was presented through Warden Morales, who continues to support Officer Atkins during his treatment.

When a correctional professional is faced with life’s most difficult circumstances, the Correctional Peace Officers Foundation is committed to ensuring they do not face those challenges alone. Thanks to the generosity of our supporting members, we are able to provide meaningful assistance to correctional professionals and their families during times of catastrophic illness, injury, natural disaster, and other unforeseen hardships.

Please join us in keeping Officer Mickey Atkins and his loved ones in your thoughts as he continues his treatment and recovery. We wish him strength, healing, and brighter days ahead.
