Scholarship Spotlight: Colton Ingo

The Correctional Peace Officers Foundation is proud to recognize Colton Ingo as a 2026 CPOF scholarship recipient.

Colton, the son of Shawndee Ingo of the Colorado Division of Adult Parole, is pursuing a future built on service, hard work, and dedication to others. As he prepares for a career as a lineman, Colton plans to use his scholarship to help cover tuition as well as the tools, climbing gear, and safety equipment required for his training—an important investment in a profession that will allow him to serve communities when they need it most.

In his scholarship essay, Colton shared that his decision to pursue this path is deeply rooted in the example set by his parents. Watching them work tirelessly to provide for their family taught him the value of discipline, perseverance, and giving back. He credits his parents with holding him to high standards academically, athletically, and personally—standards that helped shape the work ethic and sense of responsibility he carries today.

Colton’s desire to become a lineman is about more than building a career. It is about serving others. He is motivated by the opportunity to help restore power and provide critical support to communities impacted by storms and other emergencies, whether in Colorado or wherever the job may take him. That commitment to service reflects the values he has learned at home and the pride he takes in doing meaningful work for others.

Throughout high school, Colton has demonstrated the drive and discipline needed to succeed in that field. He has maintained at least a 4.0 GPA every year, all while balancing extracurricular activities, athletics, and rigorous coursework. He also shared that years of sports helped him develop leadership skills, physical endurance, teamwork, and the ability to be coached—qualities that will serve him well in a demanding and highly skilled trade.

Colton’s story is one of steady determination and a clear sense of purpose. He has already built a strong foundation through hard work in the classroom, on the field, and in his everyday life. With this scholarship support, he will be able to take the next step toward a career centered on service, reliability, and helping communities recover when they need it most.

We are honored to support Colton as he begins this next chapter and grateful to play a small role in helping him pursue a career that will make a difference for others.
