The Correctional Peace Officers Foundation recently provided catastrophic assistance to Sergeant Tommie Keeler of Fremont Correctional Facility in Colorado following a devastating vehicle collision that left her with extensive injuries and a long road to recovery.

On May 5, 2026, Sgt. Keeler was involved in a head-on collision that resulted in life-threatening injuries. Due to the severity of the crash, she was airlifted to a hospital for emergency medical treatment.

The collision caused multiple traumatic injuries, including fractures to both legs, both feet, both knees, her pelvis, and clavicle. Sgt. Keeler also suffered eight broken ribs, a bruised lung, and numerous cuts and abrasions throughout her body. Her recovery will require significant medical care, rehabilitation, and time away from work.

As Sgt. Keeler focuses on healing, she faces not only the physical challenges associated with her injuries but also the financial burdens that often accompany a catastrophic medical event. Through the generosity of CPOF members and supporters across the nation, the Foundation was honored to provide assistance to help alleviate some of those concerns during this difficult time.
