The Correctional Peace Officers Foundation (CPOF) recently welcomed members of the Honor Guard team from California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation’s California State Prison, Solano, for a day of Honor Guard training and collaboration at the CPOF headquarters.
Honor Guard teams play a critical role in honoring correctional professionals who have fallen in the line of duty and in representing the profession during memorial ceremonies, funerals, and official events. Training opportunities like this help ensure teams maintain the precision, professionalism, and respect that these ceremonies demand.
The CSP–Solano Honor Guard joined members of the CPOF Honor Guard for a full day of hands-on instruction and practice. Training focused on key ceremonial components commonly performed during memorial services and honors for fallen officers.
Held behind the CPOF headquarters building, the training allowed participants to work side-by-side refining their movements, learning standardized ceremonial techniques, and strengthening the shared commitment to honoring correctional professionals and their families.
Throughout the day, participants practiced ceremonial rifle handling for the 21-gun volley, refined their flag-folding technique, and conducted coordinated drill movements. At the conclusion of the training, members were presented with certificates recognizing their participation and commitment to Honor Guard excellence.
CPOF extends its appreciation to the CSP–Solano Honor Guard team for their dedication to service and for taking the time to train alongside our national Honor Guard members. Opportunities like these strengthen the professional bonds across agencies and ensure that when the call comes to honor one of our own, we are ready to serve with dignity and precision.
