When the unexpected happens, we stand ready.

Correctional Officer III Brenita Tillman of Anson Correctional Institution in North Carolina recently faced a life-threatening medical crisis. After experiencing altered mental status and respiratory failure, Brenita was diagnosed with cerebral edema and a mass requiring neurosurgery and oncology care. She was later discharged to rehabilitation on October 25, 2025, where her recovery journey continues.

During times like these, the weight of medical emergencies extends far beyond hospital walls. Through our Catastrophic Assistance Program, CPOF is providing financial assistance to help support Brenita and her family as she focuses on healing.

This is the heart of our mission — standing beside correctional professionals not only in the line of duty, but in life’s most critical moments.

Please keep Officer Tillman in your thoughts as she continues her recovery.
