Membership Matters: Strengthening Our Mission, Together

At the Correctional Peace Officers Foundation (CPOF), membership is more than a number—it is a promise.

It is a promise that when tragedy strikes, no correctional professional or family will stand alone. It is a promise that those who serve behind the walls will be remembered, honored, and supported. And it is a promise that together, we will continue Taking Care of Our Own.

For more than four decades, CPOF has stood beside correctional professionals and their families during their most difficult moments. From providing immediate financial assistance after catastrophic injury or illness, to supporting families of fallen officers, to ensuring their loved ones are honored and never forgotten, every aspect of our mission is made possible through the strength of our membership.

Membership Is the Foundation of Our Mission

Every member represents a commitment—to each other, to our profession, and to the families we serve.

Membership support allows CPOF to:

  • Provide catastrophic assistance to correctional professionals facing unexpected hardship

  • Honor fallen officers and support their families through PROJECT 2000 and memorial services

  • Offer scholarships to the children of correctional professionals

  • Maintain a national network of support ready to respond when tragedy occurs

  • Preserve the legacy and sacrifice of correctional professionals across the country

When a correctional professional or their family receives assistance, it is not from an organization—it is from fellow members who have chosen to stand together.

A Community Built on Shared Service

Correctional professionals understand the unique challenges of this profession. They understand the risks, the sacrifices, and the responsibility that comes with serving others.

Membership connects correctional professionals to a national community that shares those experiences. It reinforces the understanding that no matter where you serve, you are part of something larger—a network of support that extends beyond facility walls and state lines.

Whether responding to a line-of-duty death, supporting a family facing catastrophic illness, or honoring the fallen at PROJECT 2000, CPOF’s work reflects the collective strength of its members.

Every Member Makes a Difference

Each new member strengthens CPOF’s ability to respond when families need support the most. Each membership ensures that assistance can be provided quickly, compassionately, and meaningfully.

Membership also sends a powerful message—that correctional professionals look out for one another, that their service matters, and that their sacrifices will never be forgotten.

Together, members help ensure that when the call comes, CPOF is ready.

Join Us in Taking Care of Our Own

Membership is open to correctional professionals, retirees, supporters, and anyone who believes in honoring and supporting those who serve.

By becoming a member, you are helping ensure that no correctional family faces tragedy alone. You are preserving the legacy of those who gave their lives in service. And you are strengthening a mission built on compassion, honor, and unity.

Because membership is not just about joining an organization—it is about standing beside a family when they need it most.

Together, we will continue Taking Care of Our Own.
