The Honor Behind the Guard – Tony Mosby

Hello, my name is Tony Mosby. I started my career with the California Department of Corrections (CDC) in 1983 at age 23 as a California Correctional Peace Officer at the California Rehabilitation Center (CRC) in Norco, CA.

During my tenure I was assigned to several positions and became a Certified Trainer, teaching classes in Transportation policy and procedures, application of restraint gear, as well as Classification and Assignment policy and procedures to ancillary staff.

In 1988, under the command of LT. E.L. Rosburough, we formed the CRC Honor Guard team. Later years I became the Commander and a member of the Correctional Peace Officers Foundation CPOF.

I attended my first Project in 2001, it was an amazing, heartfelt experience seeing how the foundation honors the families of our brothers and sisters that paid the ultimate sacrifice “In the Line of Duty” across the nation.   “Taking Care of Our Own”

In addition, it was humbling that our vocalist was asked to perform the National Anthem at the memorial service and years later, the 21 Gun Volleys.

In 2009, I was blessed to be selected to the CPOF National Honor Guard Team at that time by Commander Steve Dizmon. I was promoted to Sergeant and later to Lieutenant.

I retired from the department (CDC) on December 1, 2010.

I’m so proud and honored to continue representing the CPO Foundation and its National Honor Guard Team in our everlasting mission, “Taking Care of Our Own”. The above would not be possible without God and family.

God forever bless the CPO Foundation

Thank you,

Sincerely, Tony Mosby
