Welcoming 2026: Another Year of Service, Strength, and Solidarity

As the calendar turns and we welcome 2026, we do so with deep respect for the profession that never pauses for holidays, milestones, or the passing of time. While much of the world celebrates a new beginning, correctional professionals report for duty — standing watch, maintaining order, and protecting the safety of our institutions, our communities, and one another.

The new year is more than a date on the calendar. In corrections, it represents another year of commitment, another year of showing up when it’s hard, and another year of carrying responsibilities most will never fully understand. It is early mornings and long nights. It is missed moments with family. It is professionalism under pressure, compassion in difficult circumstances, and resilience forged through experience.

2025 reminded us of the strength of this community — how we come together in moments of loss, rally in times of need, and lift one another through service, honor, and support. From honoring fallen officers to standing beside families during catastrophic events, the corrections family proved once again that no one walks alone.

As we step into 2026, we do so united by shared values:

  • Honor in how we serve

  • Integrity in every action

  • Respect for the badge, the uniform, and one another

  • Compassion for those we work alongside and those we serve

  • Community that extends beyond the walls

This year will bring new challenges, new opportunities, and new moments to lead with purpose. It will also bring continued reminders of why this work matters — and why taking care of our own is not just a mission, but a responsibility.

To every correctional officer, staff member, retiree, volunteer, and family member: thank you for your dedication, your sacrifice, and your unwavering commitment. Your strength carries this profession forward.

Here’s to 2026 — a year of resilience, unity, and continued service.

From all of us, stay safe, stay strong, and know that you are never alone.
