Honoring the Life and Service of Officer Travis Clements

The Correctional Peace Officers Foundation (CPOF) extends its deepest condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues of Officer Travis Clements, a dedicated correctional officer at High Desert State Prison (HDSP) in Susanville, California, who passed away unexpectedly on November 2, 2025, due to a heart attack.

Officer Clements devoted more than 25 years of faithful service to the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation. He began his career as a cadet at the academy in April 1999 and, upon graduation, was assigned to Salinas Valley State Prison. In January 2001, he transferred to California Correctional Center in Susanville, and in July 2002, he joined High Desert State Prison, where he proudly served until his untimely passing.

Those who worked alongside Travis remember him as a trusted partner and a steady presence on the job—someone whose contagious smile, professionalism, and commitment to others left a lasting impact. Beyond his career, Travis was deeply devoted to his family and to the Lassen County Susanville Football League, where his passion and service to youth and community were widely known and respected.

In a statement released by HDSP, the institution shared:

“Travis will be remembered for his contagious smile, being a great partner, dedication to his family, and his prestigious everlasting devotion to the Lassen County Susanville Football League. Our deepest condolences are extended to his family and friends during this difficult time.”

Travis leaves behind his wife, Christina, and their children, with several minor children still at home, now facing the profound loss of a loving husband and father. As the family navigates this sudden and heartbreaking tragedy, they are also burdened with unexpected funeral expenses.

At the request of the family, the Correctional Peace Officers Foundation is providing catastrophic assistance to help ease the immediate financial strain and to ensure the Clements family receives support during this incredibly difficult time.

CPOF is honored to stand with the Clements family and the HDSP community as we remember a life of service, integrity, and compassion. Officer Travis Clements’ legacy will live on through the lives he touched, the family he loved, and the community he faithfully served.

Taking Care of Our Own.
