CPOF Assists Oklahoma Sergeant After Newborn Son Faces Critical Medical Emergency

The Correctional Peace Officers Foundation (CPOF) recently provided catastrophic assistance to Sergeant Clinton Summers of the Northeast Oklahoma Community Corrections Center after his family endured a deeply challenging medical crisis.

On March 1, 2025, Sgt. Summers’ newborn son was born prematurely with a craniofacial anomaly and additional severe medical complications. Immediately following his birth, the infant required emergency transport by air ambulance from Vinita to Oklahoma Children’s Hospital in Oklahoma City, a distance of 168 miles each way.

Since that day, Sgt. Summers and his wife have been living in a state of constant travel, stress, and uncertainty as they navigate their son’s hospitalization, surgeries, and ongoing medical appointments. Because of the overwhelming circumstances, obtaining the required medical documentation proved difficult despite continuous efforts by Debbie Moore since March. The doctor’s statement was finally received on November 5, 2025, allowing CPOF to move forward with assistance.

The referral was submitted by Lt. Kristy Sexton and Debbie Moore, who recognized the tremendous emotional, physical, and financial strain placed on the Summers family. After review, CPOF approved catastrophic assistance to help ease the burdens associated with medical travel, lodging, and related expenses.

The presentation of assistance took place on Monday at the Northeast Oklahoma Community Corrections Center. Pictured left to right are:
