Standing Strong: Supporting Officer Logan Johnson on His Road to Recovery

The Correctional Peace Officers Foundation (CPOF) was honored to recently present a Catastrophic Assistance Program (CAP) check to Officer Logan Johnson, a respected member of the Florida Department of Corrections and the son of Lieutenant Eric Young and Nurse Melody Young.

Earlier this year, Officer Johnson was involved in a serious motorcycle accident that resulted in significant injuries to his leg. His recovery has required multiple surgical procedures, and the healing process will keep him out of work for an extended period. Despite the physical challenges ahead, Logan has remained in remarkably positive spirits, demonstrating the same strength and resilience he brings to his profession.

A Moment of Support and Community

CPOF Florida Field Representative Jim Freeman had the opportunity to meet with Logan during the Thanksgiving lunch at Florida State Prison. It was a meaningful moment to not only deliver the assistance check but also to stand with Logan and his family as they navigate this difficult time.

Surrounding Logan that day was a strong circle of support from both his family and his FSP leadership team — a testament to the deep bonds within the corrections profession.

“Taking Care of Our Own” in Action

CPOF’s Catastrophic Assistance Program exists to ensure that no correctional professional walks through hardship alone. When unexpected crises occur — accidents, illnesses, injuries, or loss — our mission is clear: stand beside our brothers and sisters in uniform and provide meaningful, immediate support.

Officer Johnson’s determination and progress in recovery inspire all of us. We remain committed to supporting him and his family throughout this journey and look forward to the day he is fully healed and back on his feet.
