On November 6, 2025, the Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) and the Georgia Board of Corrections came together to recognize one of their most respected leaders, Ms. Rose Williams, for her extraordinary 51 years of service to the corrections profession.
Ms. Williams’ remarkable career includes 34 years of dedicated service to the GDC, followed by 17 years as a valued member of the Board of Corrections. Her leadership, compassion, and unwavering support for staff and their families have left a lasting mark on the agency and the broader corrections community.
During the Lifetime Achievement celebration, Ms. Williams was joined by her daughter, Nicki Renfoe, and honored by Commissioner Oliver, fellow Board Members, and numerous Wardens and staff who gathered to express their appreciation and respect. The moment reflected not only the department’s gratitude but also the deep sense of unity and pride shared among Georgia’s correctional professionals.
In addition to her incredible career with the Georgia Department of Corrections, Rose has been a proud and active Field Representative for the Correctional Peace Officers Foundation (CPOF). Through her years of service, she has played a vital role in advancing CPOF’s mission in the state of Georgia — offering guidance, compassion, and steadfast support to correctional staff and their families during times of need. Her efforts have helped strengthen the Foundation’s outreach and ensured that countless officers and families received the care they deserved.
The Lifetime Achievement Award stands as a fitting tribute to Ms. Williams’ enduring commitment to excellence, mentorship, and service to those who protect and rehabilitate. Her dedication exemplifies the very heart of the corrections profession and reflects the core values of the CPO Foundation — compassion, integrity, and service to others.
The Correctional Peace Officers Foundation is honored to celebrate Ms. Williams’ legacy and proud to have her as part of our CPOF family. We extend our heartfelt congratulations and gratitude for her more than five decades of leadership, service, and unwavering commitment to “Taking Care of Our Own.”
