The Correctional Peace Officers Foundation extends our heartfelt condolences to CO Daisy Ruvalcaba of the Hughes Unit on the passing of her husband, Baron Stinson, on August 13, 2025.
Baron was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and friend. Born on June 11, 1966, in Korea to Sun and James Stinson, he touched countless lives with his dedication, kindness, and strength of character. A devoted spouse, Baron shared a deep and enduring love with Daisy, raising their children and her two sons with steadfast care and devotion.
Professionally, Baron proudly served the State of Texas for 27 years as a Correctional Officer, including time at the Hughes Unit. His work ethic and professionalism earned him the admiration of colleagues throughout his career.
Outside of his service, Baron found joy in sports—especially cheering for the Aggies—as well as golfing, fishing, cooking, and gaming. His family remembers him as a dependable and loving presence who made each person feel special.
He is preceded in death by his father, James Stinson. Baron is survived by his wife Daisy; his children Andre, Darien, Emilio, and Isaac; his mother Sun Stinson; siblings Daron, Monte, Mickel, and Sherry; and his grandchildren.
On behalf of the Foundation, Field Representative, Associate Warden Craig Adkins, and SW John Lopez, alongside Karen Woody, HRS IV, presented the catastrophic assistance packet to Daisy during this time of loss.
The CPO Foundation stands with the Ruvalcaba and Stinson families as we honor Baron’s life and service.
