4th Annual Eastern Oregon Golf Tournament
August 20, 2016
Sun Willows Golf Course
The 4th annual charity Golf Tournament to benefit the CPO Foundation was played at Sun Willows Golf Course in Pasco, Washington, on 08/20/2016 with a shotgun start of 08:00am. We had 27 teams participating in the 4-person scramble format.
Teams participated from Oregon Corrections, Washington Corrections, Yakima County Corrections, as well as the private sector and Labor Unions. We even had a participant from Alaska – Our own Ned Entwisle, CPOF Alaska Representative!
We featured a putting contest, longest drive, closest to the pin, longest putt, and best female golfer.
Team rankings were:
By gross score:
First place – Mike Croft, Brad Bowman, Howard Thornhill and Michael Garton with a score of 56. We had a tie for second place with a score of 59 between the following teams: Michael Putnam, Alex Pedroza, Jerry Vandever and Kris Lerten; and Shane Mings, Charles Weaver, George Martinez and Jim Greene! Team Putnam, Pedroza, Vandever and Lerten was declared the second place winner due to a combination of longest drive and closest to the pin. Team Mings, Weaver, Martinez and Greene therefore were placed third.
Longest Drive was won by David Wiggins. Closest to the Pin was won by Steve Slocum. Putting Contest was won by Carlos Torres. Best Female Golfer was Annette Houston of Team Jace.
Team Ricky Kautz, David Galle, Darin Lindsey and Travis Garton were clearly the “best dressed” team as exemplified by Davis Galle in his purple golf shirt, pink knickerbockers with matching golf cap and Travis Garton pulling off a black golf cap with canary yellow polo, pink knickerbockers and spectacular socks!
Team Glebe once again came all the way from the Puget Sound area to join us in support of the Foundation.
Finally,Best Golfer first place from Alaska was earned by CPOF’s own Ned Entwisle!

I am deeply indebted to the following people for their friendship, support and volunteerism in putting on this Tournament:
Linda Seefeldt, Kim Wright, Debbie Scott, Michael Shawn Martin, James Deacon and Michelle Nelson. These people got up early and stayed late, handling the challenges of the Tournament registration and pretty much everything I threw at them at short notice. You guys rock!
I would also like to express my gratitude to the staff at Sun Willows Golf Course. You once again made this Tournament enjoyable for all participants, and the awards luncheon at Sun Willows Café was very well received and delicious! Thank you so very much!
Next year’s Tournament is scheduled for Saturday, August 19, 2017 at Sun Willows Golf Course in Pasco, Washington.
Please feel free to contact me for more information, if you would like to join us. We’d love to see you there!
